What is our project and how will it help?

MRESO project is to improve the quality of life of elderly persons and their dependents in the rural districts of Masaka , Bukomansimbi and Lwengo District by 2017.

The project is requesting funds to change the lives of the Rural elderly people and the orphans in the following ways.

The project for which we request funds will make a difference in the lives of the elderly and orphans in the following ways:

Improving their living conditions by providing

Better housing facilities with better bedding
Supporting the education for orphans staying with the elderly
Easy accessibility to health facilities
Income generating activities, to get more income.( This will be done by providing high bread of pigs , and supplying them with new improved varieties of seeds and fruits which are Fast maturing, disease resistant, which can be sold, and also to look for the market of their produced crafts)

Strategic Activities

To increase the nutrition of the elderly and their dependants
To raise incomes of the elderly by supporting them with income generating activities.
To improve access to health services.
To support access to education by orphans living with the elderly.
To improve the living conditions of the elderly, including housing facilities.

Food security and nutrition:

Provide improved seeds and fruit trees.
Extend extension services to the elderly
Provide essential food items e.g. maize flour, beans, Rice and soy flour.

Income Generation:

Provide local poultry and pigs,
Support with materials for making hand crafts ( mats and baskets)
Assisting in the marketing of handcrafts and animals.

Health and Hygiene:

Providing health facilities for households with serious medical conditions.
Initially to provide soap, mattresses, mosquito nets, blankets etc

Education support to Orphans

Provide uniforms and other scholastic materials for 200 children.

Building Construction/Renovation:

Constructing 30 low cost houses each having 3 rooms for the elders whose shelters are in very poor conditions.
